Lip Flip in Orange County, CA

A Subtle, Beautifully Defined Lip

Without Adding Volume

Want a little more shape and definition to your lips without getting lip filler?

A Lip Flip is a quick, subtle treatment using a small amount of Botox or another neuromodulator to relax the muscles around the upper lip. This allows the upper lip to gently roll outward, creating the appearance of a slightly fuller, more defined lip without actually adding volume.

At OC Aesthetic Med Spa, our experienced aesthetic providers take a natural, personalized approach to lip enhancement. We focus on creating results that look like you, just a little more polished.

What Is a Lip Flip?

A Lip Flip is a non-surgical lip enhancement treatment that uses a neuromodulator to relax the orbicularis oris muscle surrounding the upper lip.

When this muscle relaxes, the upper lip can subtly "flip" upward and outward. This can make more of the upper lip visible when you're relaxed or smiling.

Unlike dermal fillers, a Lip Flip does not add physical volume to the lips.

It's a beautiful option for someone who wants:

  1. A more defined upper lip
  2. A subtle enhancement without filler
  3. More visible upper lip when smiling
  4. A softer-looking "gummy smile"
  5. A smoother appearance around the upper lip
  6. A subtle enhancement to the shape of the lips
  7. A quick treatment with little downtime

Lip Flip vs. Lip Filler

Not sure which is right for you?

A Lip Flip and lip filler create very different effects.

Lip Flip: Relaxes the muscles around the upper lip to subtly roll the lip outward. It does not add volume.

Lip Filler: Uses a hyaluronic acid dermal filler to physically add volume and can be used to enhance lip shape, symmetry, projection, and definition.

Some patients prefer a Lip Flip because they want an extremely subtle change. Others may benefit more from filler and some patients choose to combine the two for a more comprehensive lip enhancement.

During your consultation, we'll help determine what will look best for your lips, facial anatomy, and aesthetic goals.

Your Lip Flip Treatment

Your Lip Flip appointment is typically quick and convenient, making it an easy addition to your beauty routine.

Your provider will first evaluate your lips and the movement of the muscles surrounding them. Small amounts of neuromodulator are then carefully injected into targeted areas around the upper lip.

Because the treatment is designed to create a subtle change, precision is everything.

Our goal isn't to change your smile or make your lips look dramatically different. It's to create a soft, refined enhancement that complements your natural features.

How Long Does a Lip Flip Take?

The actual treatment typically takes only a few minutes, although your appointment will include time for consultation, assessment, and treatment planning.

Is There Downtime?

One of the biggest advantages of a Lip Flip is that there is generally little to no downtime.

You may experience temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, or small bumps at the injection sites. These typically resolve relatively quickly.

Your provider will give you specific aftercare instructions based on your treatment.

When Will I See My Lip Flip Results?

Neuromodulators do not work instantly.

You may begin noticing subtle changes within several days, with results continuing to develop over approximately 1–2 weeks.

The final result is intentionally subtle. Your upper lip may appear slightly more visible and defined, particularly when smiling.

How Long Does a Lip Flip Last?

A Lip Flip is temporary. Results commonly last around 2–3 months, although longevity varies from person to person.

Because the treatment uses a relatively small amount of neuromodulator, some patients find that their Lip Flip wears off sooner than their other neuromodulator treatments.

Regular treatments may help you maintain your desired appearance over time.

Who Is a Good Candidate for a Lip Flip?

A Lip Flip may be a great option if you're looking for a subtle enhancement and don't necessarily want additional lip volume.

You may be a good candidate if you:

  1. Want a more defined upper lip
  2. Feel your upper lip "disappears" when you smile
  3. Want a subtle alternative to lip filler
  4. Have a naturally thin or tucked-in upper lip
  5. Want to soften the appearance of a gummy smile
  6. Prefer natural-looking aesthetic treatments
  7. Want a quick treatment with minimal downtime

However, a Lip Flip isn't right for everyone. Your provider will evaluate your anatomy, muscle movement, medical history, and aesthetic goals before recommending treatment.

Lip Flip FAQs

Does a Lip Flip make your lips bigger?

A Lip Flip does not actually add volume to your lips. Instead, relaxing the muscles around the upper lip allows more of the lip to become visible, which can create the appearance of a fuller upper lip.

Does a Lip Flip hurt?

Most patients describe the injections as quick pinches or small stings. Because only a few tiny injections are typically needed, the treatment is generally very well tolerated.

Will I still be able to smile normally?

The goal of a properly performed Lip Flip is to create a subtle enhancement while preserving natural facial movement. Because the muscles around the mouth are important for speaking, drinking, smiling, and other everyday movements, precise placement and conservative dosing are especially important.

Can a Lip Flip fix a gummy smile?

A Lip Flip may help reduce the appearance of a gummy smile in some patients by relaxing the muscles that pull the upper lip upward. However, results depend heavily on the individual's anatomy and the underlying cause of the gummy smile.

Can I get a Lip Flip and lip filler together?

Yes. Depending on your goals, a Lip Flip and lip filler can complement one another. Filler can provide volume and structure while a Lip Flip can subtly change the way the upper lip sits.

Your provider can help determine whether combining treatments makes sense for you.

How much does a Lip Flip cost?

Lip Flip pricing varies depending on the neuromodulator used and the amount needed for your individual treatment. Contact OC Aesthetic Med Spa for current Lip Flip pricing and availability.

What is the difference between Botox and a Lip Flip?

Botox is a brand of botulinum toxin type A. A "Lip Flip" describes the treatment technique and the desired aesthetic effect it is not a specific product.

Other FDA-approved neuromodulators may also be used depending on your provider's recommendation.

Can I get a Lip Flip if I've had lip filler?

In many cases, yes. Having existing lip filler does not automatically prevent you from receiving a Lip Flip. Your provider will evaluate your lips and previous treatments before determining whether it's appropriate.
